Track Side Quick Reference


Track Side Chassis Adjustments

 

Tight or Under steering

Front tires fail to grip

Move Right Rear tire out

Decrease cross weight (LR+RF lbs.)

Increase Front axle lead

Raise entire rear of car

Softer tire compound front tires

Decrease right front spring rate

Increase right rear spring rate

Raise rear Panhard Bar on frame side

Increase air pressure rear tires

Increase stagger rear tires

Narrow the front end  

Harder compound on rear tires

Add Tilt to the Chassis ½ turn out on the Left Rear and Left Front adjusters

 

   

Loose or Over steering

Rear tires fail to grip

Move Right Rear tire in

Increase cross weight (LR+RF lbs.)

Reduce Front axle lead

Lower entire rear of car

Softer tire compound rear tires

Increase right front spring rate.

Decrease right rear spring rate

Lower rear Panhard Bar on frame side

Reduce air pressure rear tires

Reduce stagger rear tires

Widen the front end

Harder compound on Front tires

Reduce Tilt to the Chassis ½ turn out on the Right Rear and Right Front adjusters

 

 

Adjusting for Less Grip

Harder tire compound Right Front and Right Rear

Add Tilt to the Chassis ½ turn out on the Left Rear and Left Front adjusters

Raise the Front and Rear Panhard Bars Equally

Stiffer Right Front and Right Rear Springs 10 lbs at a time

 

Adjusting for More Grip

Softer tire compound Right Front and Right Rear

Take Tilt out of to the Chassis

Lower the Front and Rear Panhard Bars Equally

Softer Right Front and Right Rear Springs 10 lbs at a time

 

Car Loose at Corner Exit

Reduce stagger rear tires

Raise the Front ride Height

Move the Right rear tire in.

Softer tire compound Right Rear

Increase Right front and left rear Corner Weights

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bicycling

Left side tires lose contact with the racing surface

More overall left side weight %

Harder tire compound (mainly RR)

More air pressure

Widen car

Add stagger to rear 

     

Basic Chassis Set-up

Weight Distribution

53-55% left side weight (LR+LF/total car weight multiplied by 100=left side %)

51-53% cross weight (LR+RF/total car weight multiplied by 100=cross weight %)

41-43% nose weight (LF+RF/total car weight multiplied by 100=nose weight %)

3/8-1" rear stagger

3/8-1" front stagger (use front stagger to increase cross weight %)

55-70 durometer tires (grip of tires--can vary)
